Joyce Whitlock, the 10-year-old daughte rof Mr. and Mrs. Earl Whitlock, was fatally injured on Thursday afternoon near North Union on Road 42. She had alighted from a school hack drive by Will Buser and was crossing the road when she was struck by a car drive by Edgar Bumpus, of Indianapolis who in company with David Moore and Alva Wells, was on his way to Greencastle. The child's skull was fractured and she died in Culver Hospital shortly after reaching there. The three men were put under arrest. Mr. and Mrs. WHitlock formerly lived in Greene Township where she was a general favorite. Bumpus had been indicted for man-slaughter and for not stopping for a school hack.
